Alexis Olin’s paintings don’t offer easy answers. They invite you to look closely and spend time with them. Behind their intensity lies a deep interplay of control and instinct. Every element is deliberately placed, yet filled with movement and emotion.

His latest series, The Result of Habits, explores how repetition and routine shape both technique and perception. It contrasts two distinct approaches: one grounded in structure and precision, with minimal, geometric canvases that feel almost digital; and another driven by raw emotion, where texture, symbolism, and memory collide. Together, they create a dialogue between discipline and impulse, between the past and present self.

Color plays a vital role. It’s bold, intentional, and disruptive—meant to cut through distraction and hold your gaze. Many works react to light, revealing hidden layers and challenging how we see. These are not spontaneous outbursts, but carefully built through sustained, focused practice. Each painting is a constructed moment, asking us to slow down and truly observe.
