Alexis Olin (born in Kyiv, Ukraine) is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, digital art, photography, illustration, and textile design. His career spans over two decades and is shaped by a lifelong fascination with systems — visual, emotional, and habitual. Known for fusing precision and impulse, his work navigates the balance between structural control and raw expression.
Olin began his artistic journey in the early 2000s as editor-in-chief of K9, a cult Ukrainian comics magazine that ran for nearly a decade. Deeply influenced by the Franco-Belgian school of graphic novels, his early practice laid the groundwork for a visual language built on rhythm, symbolic repetition, and clean linework. Later, fashion and photography expanded this vision: in 2016, he founded Métrique, a clothing label translating his paintings and photo series into wearable forms.
In recent years, his work has shifted into a hybrid practice blending analog and digital. His paintings — executed in acrylic, oil pastel, spray paint, and digital techniques — explore the intersection between habit and emotion, discipline and release. Symbols like gloved hands, eyes, blades, and abstract geometric elements recur across canvases, evoking memory, childhood ritual, and moments of obsessive concentration.
Olin’s work has been exhibited across Europe, the US, and Asia, both in contemporary galleries and digital art platforms. For Alexis, every form — whether canvas, code, or cloth — is a medium of expression. At the core of his practice lies a conviction: that clarity in art doesn’t come from inspiration alone, but from repetition — the quiet, persistent labor of showing up.
